RULES

• The Ridgway Record, Daily Press & Kane Republican Big Buck Contest is open to all hunters with a valid Pennsylvania hunting license.

• Farm raised, road kill, illegally killed or deer killed on hunting preserves are ineligible.

• Bucks must be killed in Pennsylvania during regular Pennsylvania hunting season.

• Contest begins Saturday, September 30, 2023 and ends Saturday, December 9, 2023. All deer must be tagged within this time period.

• All deer must be registered within 48 hours of tagging and by Monday,

December 11, 2023 by 4:00 p.m.

• Racks must still be on the head and head must still be attached to the full hide.

• A point is anything that is 1” or larger.

• All deer must be registered at an official location, please see the list of locations in The Daily Press, The Ridgway Record and The Kane Republican.

• There are 3 categories: 1. Adult; 2. Youth (must be at least 12 years of age and have a valid junior Pennsylvania hunting license at time of tagging); 3. Mentor (must have a valid Pennsylvania mentor hunting license at time of tagging.

• Any buck scoring over 80 will be required to have their buck remeasured. Entrant will be contacted and told where to take their buck for remeasuring.

• Top entries will be contacted beginning 2 weeks prior to the banquet.

• Winners must attend the annual awards ceremony on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Johnsonburg Fire Hall, Johnsonburg, PA.

• Winners will be announced in The Daily Press, The Ridgway Record and The Kane Republican on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. • Employees of Heritage Publications and their immediate families are ineligible to participate in the Big Buck Contest. No purchase necessary to win.

If your deer is large enough to be a winner or you are considering having it mounted contact a taxidermist to ensure how to best handle the deer. If the deer is not properly maintained for mounting and is determined to be a winner, the random drawn prize for the headmount will be forfeited.
